Charlotte Callens, Paintings

Diametrically opposed to her previous works that transported the viewer into a universe of coloured
fields, the Belgian artist Charlotte Callens has set her sights on collages and colour. A new breath of
life animates his work. Her research, far removed from her preoccupations at the time when she had
immersed herself in large expanses carefully worked, playing with transparency and material, is
now expressed through paper cut-outs pasted on canvas, in frank and generous colors, composed of
reds, oranges, oceanic or celestial blues, in varied tones, fresh and playful, sometimes subtly reworked
into various textures. Discreet geometric shapes appear here and there, crosses, triangles, circles, lines,
giving the paintings their unique character. A colourful work to discover!

Christiane Segal, Sculptures

"In the pebble of a river is inscribed the whole march of the universe" H. Okuizumi

When Christiane Segal touches stone, be it marble, soapstone, limestone, or alabaster, it is the communication
with the material, the tactile emotion that inspires her, "The impressions gathered from day to day," she
says, and little by little, over a long journey, it allows her to find the path to follow. The relatively
modest dimensions of the sculptures allow him to access all the facets of the volume as well as to feel its
contours with his hands. Full, biomorphic forms, Sometimes inspired by nature, the artist's dreams, desires,
moods, his sense of occupying space, the contrasts between energy and softness emerge according to
the evolution of his dreams, desires, moods. His keen observation of life and the world around him is
always a source of wonder and the fruit of multiple discoveries, thanks to a sensitivity on the edge.
A rich and sensitive work not to be missed!
